Data Deletion

You can ask us to delete your LingoTide account and the learning data linked to it at any time. This page explains exactly how to request it, what gets removed, and the limited records we are required to keep. For the full picture of what data we hold and why, see our Privacy & Data Policy.

You can delete your account yourself: open Account settings and choose “Delete my account”. Your account is deactivated immediately and permanently erased after 14 days; if you change your mind within those 14 days, email support and we will restore it. If you prefer, or you can no longer sign in, you can also request deletion by email: email support@lingotide.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete your account. So we can act on it without delay, please send the request from your account email (it is how we confirm the request is really yours). We action verified requests within 30 days and email you to confirm when it is done.

We remove your LingoTide account record and the learning data linked to it: the episodes you have completed, the episodes you saved, the vocabulary, grammar, and phrases you saved, the words you marked as known, your per-language playback preferences, and your learning-activity signal (see the Privacy Policy). You can also turn off future collection of, or erase, the learning-activity signal on its own from your account settings, without deleting your whole account. We also end your subscription with our payment provider so you are not billed again. The full list of what we hold is in the Privacy & Data Policy.

We keep only what the law requires us to. Limited billing and tax records tied to past payments are retained for the period required by law, then deleted. Your sign-in identity is held by our authentication provider and is separate from your LingoTide data: it stays under that provider’s control, and deleting your LingoTide account does not by itself remove that identity.

Deleting your LingoTide data does not delete your Facebook account. If you also want to disconnect LingoTide from Facebook, remove it under Facebook Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites; that stops Facebook sharing your profile with us going forward. To delete the data already held on the LingoTide side, use “Delete my account” in Account settings or email us, as described in “How to request deletion” above — removing the app on Facebook alone does not erase your LingoTide account.
